Presses
Antique Kelsey Mercury Model 5×8 Excelsior Tabletop Platen Press
In 1872, the Kelsey Company began making inexpensive presses for amateur printers. The longest lasting press manufacturer on the market, the company closed its doors in Meridian, Connecticut, in 1990. This particular press is estimated to have been produced between 1930 and 1950. Its unique side lever makes it a standout amongst other Kelsey presses.

First manufactured in 1933, this cast iron press was mostly used by hobbyists and business owners who had needs for printing small items, such as menus, brochures, business cards, and flyers.

Antique Challenger Miles’ Nervine Galley Proofing Press
Manufactured by the Challenger Machinery Co. in the 1870s, this unique press was produced for a medicine doctor by the name of Dr. Dexter Miles. Dr. Miles offered these presses to local newspapers all over the country in exchange for advertising his “Miles Pain Pills.” These presses were used by the newspapers to proof their articles—to “check their p’s and q’s.”

A.B. Taylor and Co. Job and Hat Tip Press
Circa the 1870s, this beautiful blue press was manufactured specifically for printing the silk labels found attached to the crowns of men’s hats. From what I can tell, this press is extremely rare. It is one of 3 of its kind known to exist.
